He was born in Arkansas to Nathan and Nancy (Estep) Ward. He married Louise (Kollar) Ward March 21,1948, and she died in 2006. He was a World War II Army infantryman.
He is survived by five children, Marge (James) Taylor of Harpster, Dennis Ward of Benton, Dean (Lianne) Ward of McCutchenville, Sue (Mike) O'Flaherty of Nevada and Deb (Mitch) Wyeth of Sycamore; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Dorothy Black of Fayettville, Ark.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Nate Ward; three sisters, Gladys Denzer, Delphia Christensen and Gertie Aurand; two infant sisters; and a great-grandson.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore.
His funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Matt Garrabrant officiating. Burial will follow at Union United Methodist Cemetery, Wyandot County, where the Sycamore American Legion Post 250 will conduct a military graveside service.
