“George W. Addis

Walhalla, Oct. 18 – George Warren Addis, 70, retired farmer and lifelong Oconee County resident, died suddenly Saturday morning of a heart attack.

He was a son of the late James E. Addis and Margaret Keasler Addis. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Meana Rutledge Addis; four sons, Frank, Lloyd, Smith, all of Walhalla; Boyce, serving with the U. S. Air Force in England; four daughters, Mrs. W. E. Lee, Walhalla; Mrs. Annie Mae Albertson, Walhalla; Miss Essie Addis of the home; Mrs. L. A. Cleland Jr., Westminster; 13 grandchildren, six brothers, Earl, Jess Arthur all of Walhalla; Sloan, Greenville; Willy, Pendleton; Harrison, West Union; three sisters, Mrs. Harriet Hodges, Greenville; Mrs. Ellie Hester, Easley; and Mrs. Alma Miller, Augusta, Ga.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending arrival of his son from England. The body is at Davenport Funeral Home. The family is at 303 N. Pine St., Walhalla.”

George Warren Addis was a son of James E. Addis and Margaret Keisler Addis. He was married to Mena Myrtle Rutledge and they were the parents of at least eight children: Ruby Addis; Frank Addis; Annie M. Addis; Helen Addis; Lloyd George Addis; Smith Addis, James Boyce Addis and his twin sister, Bess R. Addis.
