James Reynold Koehn, son of Peter and Laura (Arbach) Koehn was born on March 12, 1942 in Hoven, South Dakota. He grew up in Hoven where he attended school and graduated from Hoven High School in 1960. James enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1963-1965.
On September 4, 1965 he married Janet Mehlberg in Clark, South Dakota. In 1965 James joined his brothers as a partner in Koehn Mfg. in Watertown until they sold the company in 1985. He then founded Koehn Marketing with his brother, Jerry and worked there until his retirement in 2005.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and also dirt biking in his younger years. He also loved telling stories and participated in several religious programs.
James was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and St. Francis Men's Choir; a life member of the American Legion, Eagles, Elks, NCBA, South Dakota Cattleman's, and FEMA.
Preceding James in death were his parents; his wife; four brothers, Gene, Fr. Don, Arlie and Jerry; his brother-in-law, Al Miller; and one sister-in-law, Karen Koehn.
He is survived by one daughter, Julie (Aaron) Berkey; two sons, Jay (Christine) Koehn and Jeff (Krystal) Koehn; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ann Miller and LaRayne Koehn; two sisters-in-law, Alice (Bill) Hoff and Marge (Ray) Vanwell; his special friend, Orvetta of Mesa AZ; and Vivian Koehn.
