EDWARD ROLLIE ARNSPARGER SR., 77, of 105 Sunbrook Lane, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at Washington County Hospital. Born June 18, 1923 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Oscar Durwood Sr. and Olive May Guessford Arnsparger.

He was employed by the Maryland Correctional Institution, retiring in 1979. A veteran of the U. S. Army, he served during World War II. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks 378; American Legion, Funkstown Post 211; Improved Order of Redmen 54; AMVETS Post 10; AARP and the M.C.E.A.

He is survived by his wife, Nora L. Sypolt Arnsparger; a daughter, Linda Gause Brown of Hagerstown; a son, Edward R. Arnsparger Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a brother, Oscar D. Arnsparger Jr. of Williamsport; and a granddaughter.

Services were held at Grace United Methodist Church; burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home
