Maesel Counsell was born Aug. 6, 1916 at Little Rock daughter of Harry and Sylvia Counsell. In 1949 she married Lowell Albertus of Rock Rapids. She graduated from the Little Rock high school and attended the Iowa state teachers college in Cedar Falls and taught in the rural school for two years.
She also worked for a short time in a bank in Little Rock before attending Nettleton Commercial college in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She then worked for an attorney before coming to Rock Rapids in 1940 to work in the Co. Auditors office. After 16 years in the courthouse, and she was employed by US agricultural department in the ASC office.
She worked their 22 years retiring in 1978. She volunteered at the nursing home and served on the care review board committee at the Lyon Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Her husband died in 1959.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and received her fifty year membership pin.
Survivors include two sisters Maxine Rauchy of Baraboo, Wisconsin and Mae Voss of Sibley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother James.
