Virginia Robinson Thompson Bridgers, 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, June 1, 2011. She was born September 27, 1916. Virginia was the daughter of the late Guy Millard Robinson and Bessie Coley Robinson. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. Her parents, her husbands, Duckery Ray Thompson and John Thomas Bridgers; her three sons, Ray Millard Thompson, Jimmie Lee Thompson, and Thomas Phillip Thompson; and her brother, Herbert L. Robinson predeceased her.
She is survived by her daughters, Shirley T. Best, Yvonne T. Parker and Janice T. Smith; her sons and daughters-in-law, James Gary Thompson and wife, Sandra H. Thompson, Norman Earl Thompson and wife, Vickie S. Thompson, her daughter-in-law, Jenny Thompson; her step-son, William (Bill) Bridgers; 17 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; her sister, Pluma (Robin) Manning; her brother, Bishop Guy T. Robinson and her sister-in-law, Blanche Robinson.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Friday, June 3, 2011 at Johnson Funerals and Cremations on English Road. Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday, June 4, 2011 in Johnson's Chapel with Rev. Earl Royal and Rev. Eugene Hartley officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Church of God of Prophecy building fund, 4938 London Church Road, Elm City, NC 27822.
