She grew up in Melrose MA and attended Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy MA and the University of Maine in Gorham. From there, she received her BA degree and moved to Fryeburg, where she taught in the Fryeburg public schools.
Her husband, the late Rev. C. Weston Jones, had been pastor in Fryeburg Harbor, Hiram, and Brownfield ME, and Conway and Center Conway NH. Evelyn was a caring and loving wife and mother and was very supportive of her husband's pastoral duties. She enjoyed playing the piano and working on church projects.
She is survived by her sons F. Woodman Jones of Portland ME, Wendall H. Jones of Bogota, Colombia, Winston C. Jones of Boston MA, J. Wesley Jones of Boston, C. Weldon Jones of Arden Hill MN, and Webster N. Jones of East Conway NH; daughters Barbara Crowley of Quincy MA and Brenda Shepherd of New Bedford MA; sister Elaine Magoon of Tyngsboro MA; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
