Son of Ernest Dobrowsky of Klattau, Bohemia (Germany, now Czech Republic) and his wife, Anna Mary F. Bystle, daughter of Daniel Bystle and Rosanna Laurence.

His mother was born September 24, 1850 in Ohio. She had 7 children with Ernest before his death in 1892. Her second marriage was in 1900 to George T. Vickery. She died January 8, 1931 in Redding and is buried under the name, Anna Mary F. Vickery.

His siblings were: Caroline Ludie (1870, married Yeakey); Edwin Dobrowsky (1873); Rosanna D. (1875, married Jones); Howard Dobrowsky (1879); Ernest Dobrowsky (1882); and Vincent Dobrowsky (1884).

He married Rose Kemble October 1, 1898 in Shasta; the couple making Redding their home. In 1927, Adolph built a house at 1720 Yuba Street.

He owned and operated a jewelry store in town that he inherited from his father. He in turn handed it down to his son, Baird Adolph Dobrowsky (1905 - 1991). The business was sold in 1993; the Dobrowsky house in 2002.
