Grace Ann Ambrose Mar. 6, 1922 - Feb. 22, 2014 Resident of Pleasanton Grace Ambrose, longtime resident of Alameda passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22 in Pleasanton, California.Grace was born in Sebastopol, California of a French father and an American mother. At the age of five, she and her parents moved to San Francisco. They lived on the corner of Haight and Steiner and opened a French Laundry on the ground floor and lived in the apartment above. She attended Catholic elementary School and a local high school in San Francisco.In January 1946 she was married to Daniel Joseph (Joe) Ambrose in San Francisco. They moved to Alameda in 1952 where they raised their three children. Besides being a home-maker, Grace enjoyed bowling, reading, cooking, jig saw puzzles, knitting and sewing. Her husband Joe was a partner in Encinal Market on High Street in Alameda for 30 years. Grace and Joe were married for 65 years. Joe passed away in March 2011 and Grace lived her final years closed to her children in Pleasanton.She is survived by her three children, Jack and Julie Ambrose, Therese Ambrose and Richard and Patti Ambrose. Jan Ambrose. Five granddaughters, Jackie and Randy Boone, Jennifer and Scott Spomer, Kristin Ambrose, Erin and Nic Lyman, Kim and Bill Wheeler. Seven great-grandchildren, Hailey, MacKenzie and Allyson Boone. Jacob and Brandon Spomer. Addison and Reese Lyman.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice of Dublin.A vigil funeral service will be held at Valley Community Church, 4455 Del Valle Parkway in Pleasanton at 7:00pm on Thursday February 27. And a memorial service will be held on Friday, February 28 at 12:00pm at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
