Virginia Eva Strong, age 102 of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Embassy of Cambridge. She was born in Senecaville on August 18, 1921, a daughter of the late Clarence F. Strong and Fannie (Schmidt) Strong. Clarence fought in WWI overseas and her mother Fannie was a school teacher.
She is preceded in death by: her parents; and a special friend Harry W. Gardner of Akron.
Surviving are: many cousins, including the Dennis Family of South Zanesville; and her friends including, Debra McClelland and Gary Dunbar.
Virginia was a graduate of Senecaville High School and Cambridge Business College. She is Presbyterian by faith. She was employed in the Court House as a secretary to Richary Mayor, V.P. Oxford Tile Co for 20 years. She had also worked for the Guernsey County Extension Agricultural Office and as a Guernsey County Sheriff's Deputy.
Virginia enjoyed reading, cross word puzzles, listening to Cincinnati Reds and NASCAR. She loved traveling, first by car, then by motor coach. She had been to all 48 continental states and to Mexico and Canada.
She was a member of the Red Hat Divas, the Business and Professional Girls Club, the Guernsey County Senior Center and Wing 4 Southeastern Med Auxiliary. She was a charter member of Wing 9 and was twice chosen Auxilian of the year. Virginia was a 40 plus year volunteer at SEORMC.
Graveside services will be held at Senecaville Cemetery on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11 am.
