Gerri left Arkansas as a young bride and resided most of her life in Washington and Oregon. She also lived in Phoenix and Washington DC. While her husband served in World War II, she and her daughter followed and resided near him at several Army bases in the States. She spent most of her adult life caring for her family, but later worked a number of years for JC Penney. She bestowed great love on her family, teaching them significant values to live by and also the importance of serving the Lord Jesus. She was a member of Capitol Baptist Church in Salem.
She is survived by her children, Marilan (Marvin) Morey, Douglas (Vicki) Benedict, both of Dallas, and Donald Benedict II, of Salem. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Norris and John and her sisters Mildred, Joan, and Mary Lou, all of Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald G. Benedict, in 2001, and 2 of her brothers, Harry Jr. and Eugene Doddridge.
Visitation is planned for Wednesday and Thursday from 2-6PM and the funeral service will be on Friday at 2:00PM, all at the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center, followed by burial at Salt Creek Cemetery.
