He passed away February 23, 2014 in Dallas, TX.
Mr. Bailey was born November 11, 1922 in Grand Saline, TX, to Harvey P. and Tennie Fisher Bailey.
He grew up helping on his parent's farm. He loved playing football for Grand Saline High School and received an offer to play for Arlington State College after graduation. He went into the Army to serve his country and was stationed in Germany. Cecil worked as warehouse superintendent with A&P Grocery in Dallas. He raised his family and served as a Sunday School Teacher and deacon at Urban Park Baptist Church. After the death of his wife. Margarie, he moved back to his home place in Grand Saline. After meeting his second wife Irene, they moved to Canton were they retired. They helped start the Lakeside Baptist Church were he served as the first chairman of the deacons. They traveled to Israel, Hawaii, Alaska and New England and many trips to Branson. He loved to grow large vegetable gardens and canned most of what he grew and enjoyed sharing with family and friends.
Surviving are Wife, Irene Bailey of Garland, TX, Son, Dennis & Kathie Bailey of Heath, TX, Daughter, Sandria & Larry Freeman of Dallas, TX, Daughter, Dianna Norrell of Canton, TX, 12 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, Step-son, Gary & Cindy Shortnacy of McKinney, TX, Step-son, Ken & Larraine Oden of Plano, TX.
Cecil was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Margarie Bailey, Brother, Doug Bailey, Infant Brother.
Pallbearers are Greg Freeman, Trevor Freeman, Teddy Norrell, Kelby Nixon, Ethan Parker, Jon Bailey, Jon Oden, Stone Bailey
Family will receive friends Tuesday 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
