Jane E. Gottlund, 89, a resident of the Highlands at Wyomissing, died Oct. 12, 2008, in Reading Hospital. She was the widow of Platon Gottlund, who died in 1993.
Born in Kutztown, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Ruth (Rupp) Esser.She was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kutztown. She was also active in The Great Valley Girl Scout Council, YMCA and Junior League . She was a member of Kutztown Area Historical Society, having helped with the publication of "Along the Saucony." Jane was a former member of the board of Friend Inc., Kutztown. She was a former assistant editor of the Kutztown Patriot.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy R., wife of Dr. J. Lory Ghertner, Sodus, N.Y.; and two sons, Peter E., and wife, Gail, and Robert P., and wife, Kathy, both of Kutztown. Other survivors include six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Memorial services will be Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 W. Main St., Kutztown, PA 19530.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the endowment fund of the church at the above address or Friend Inc., 658 Noble St., Kutztown, PA 19530. Edward J. Hildenbrand Funeral Home Inc., Kutztown, is in charge of arrangements.
