He was born July 30, 1944, in Davenport, the son of Kenneth E. and Lucille E. (Downs) Bedford. Mike graduated from Assumption High School in 1962. He married Sharon Hitch on May 13, 1966, in Davenport. He later married Debra Quigley on Jan. 8, 1982, in Davenport. Mike was employed as a civilian employee for the Iowa National Guard for 14 years. He retired in 1998 as a mechanic from the Rock Island Arsenal. Mike was a member of Cedar Valley Boxer Club. He also served in the Reserves in the Iowa National Guard. His hobbies consisted of restoring motorcycles and autos. Memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Boxer Rescue, Waterloo, Iowa, or Friends of the Animals, Tipton, Iowa. Survivors include his wife, Debra; sons, Michael Bedford and Craig and (Holly) Bedford, all of Davenport; stepdaughters, Tonya Jordan, Wilton, Iowa, and Angella Jordan, Two Rivers, Wis.; and a brother, William and (Janet) Bedford, Tempe, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judith Ann Smith, on Feb. 4, 1998.
