He was employed with the Western MarylandRailway Company as a telegrapher for a great number of years retiring in 1937. He was born in Monterey, Pennsylvania, the son of Washington and Hester (Brown) Benchoff. He was the last surviving member of his family.
He was a member of the Washington Square Methodist Church, the Men's Bible Class, and a member of the Odd Fellows. He was the oldest member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class.
A number of nieces and nephews survive.
Funeral services were held at the Suter-Rouzer Funeral Home; interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
