Willie Ashcraft, 71 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur T. Ashcraft, of Lilbourn, but formerly of Cooter, was instantly killed Saturday night in an automobile accident at a railroad intersection at Lilbourn when the car in which he was riding overturned. He head was crushed in the accident.
The accident occurred when a tire blew out as the car was making a turn to go over the railroad crossing, according to James Tucker, driver of the car, and a cousin of the Aschraft boy.
The family lived at Cooter before moving to Lilbourn several months ago.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur T. Ashcraft, five brothers: James, J.J. Leon, Amon and Ernest, and one sister, Mildred Grace, all of Lilbourn, also a grandmother, Mrs. Grace Jones of Cooter, and other near relatives in and near Cooter.
Funeral services were held at the Lilbourn Methodist Church Monday with Rev. Herman Wagner, formerly pastor of the Cooter Methodist Church officiating. Burial was made in the Number 8 Cemetery, south of Steele.
