Mrs. June Butler Wright, 93 years old, died March 14, 1983 in Cape Girardeau. She was born October 31, 1889 at Seymour, MO. She was the daughter of William and Mollie Butler.
She married Robert Wright. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Wright was an artist all her life. She studied in St. Louis and New York. She was a commercial designer and illustrator. She did illustrations for the Saturday Evening Post for some time before returning to St. Louis.
She taught at Washington University in St. Louis for 25 years, before retiring.
She painted landscapes, portraits and still life. A one woman show of her paintings was held in St. Louis as recently as 1976.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, and four sisters.
Funeral services were March 17 at Ford and Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Marvin Pyron officiated and burial was in Dry Creek Cemetery near Lutesville.
