Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania; Lieutenant General United States Army: He enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard in 1916,and served in both World War I and II, commanding Company B of the 109th Machine Gun Battalion in France. He was also the regimental commander in the 79th Division. He also commanded 1st Battalion, 112th Infantry; 1st Battalion, 109th Infantry; and the 110th Infantry Regiment. General Strickler served as the Lieutenant Governor of the State of Pennsylvania from 1947-1951
