Jefferson City News-Tribune (MO) - Friday, November 30, 2001:

Dustin Lee Abel, 16, Wardsville, died Nov. 28, 2001, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born July 5, 1985, in Jefferson City, a son of Shannon and Debbie Goff Abel, who survive at the home.

He was a sophomore at Blair Oaks High School, where he was an honor student. He played football, basketball and ran track. He was a member of the Spanish Club, History Club, Art Club and Letterman's Club. He was also a member of Central United Church of Christ, where he was involved with the youth group.

Other survivors include: one brother, Devin Abel, of the home; maternal grandparents J.R. and Gerry Goff, Jefferson City; paternal grandparents Glennon and Joan Abel, Belle; and paternal great-grandmother Lorene Eichler, Owensville.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Central United Church of Christ. Stephen H. Buchholz will officiate. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Saturday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Jefferson City. Memorials are suggested to the Dustin Lee Abel Memorial Fund for Future Scholarships, c/o Kilowatt Credit Union, 1021 Southwest Boulevard, Jefferson City, Mo. 65109.
