Hattie Mae Weyer was born September 9, 1926 at Beresford, South Dakota, the daughter of Eugene and Dora (Nissen) Lambertson. She graduated from Hawarden High School in 1945. Hattie married Pete Weyer May 7, 1947 at the Associated Church in Hawarden. They lived in Hawarden where Hattie was employed with the Hawarden Bakery and JC Penney. She was a certified dietician at the Hawarden Community Hospital for 14 years.

Pete died July 29, 1997.

She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church, where she actively served as Sunday School Superintendent, teacher, and in the prayer chain, ladies aide and board of education. She was also a hospice volunteer. Hattie enjoyed family, friends, visiting, embroidery, reading, baking and the Lawrence Welk show. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and a strong Christian woman.

Hattie died Saturday, August 19, 2000 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden at the age of 73 years.

Survivors include two sons, Nicholas Weyer, and wife, Carole of Rapid City, South Dakota, Jerold Weyer and finance, Jane Moerman of Hawarden; five daughters, Laurene Brown and husband, Alen of Akron, Iowa; Mary Ann Geveshausen and husband, Lee of Beresford, South Dakota; Carolyn Bertram and husband, Don of Little Rock, Iowa; Beverly Weyer of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Patricia Trevathan of Sheldon, Iowa; brother, Harry Lambertson and wife, Rozene of Hays, Kansas; two sisters, Dorothy Schneider and husband, Milton of Akron, Iowa; Marilyn Orton and husband, John of Hawarden; 18 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; parents; and grandson, Tim Brown.
