Services were Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church In Hawarden. with the Rev. Loren Vogler officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.
Waterman was born on November 6, 1910 in Alcester, South Dakota; the son of Marvin and Elsie Mac (Garkie) Waterman. He married Alberta Hout on January 28. 1928. in Elk Point, South Dakota- The couple lived in Hawarden.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. His wife died on April 11, 1950. He married Gladys Warner on September 8, 1952 in Luverne, Minnesota. He was employed with Burrington Sand and gravel, Everist Sand and Gravel and Hlgman Sand and Gravel. He also worked with his son at Waterman Construction for many years. His second wife died on October 20, 1993.
Waterman was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Hawarden Saddle Club. He enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include four sons, Marvin, Rolan "Chip" and his wife, Linda, and Randy, all of Hawarden, and Robert Warner and his wife, Mary Ann, of Jefferson, South Dakota; four daughters and their husbands, Mary and Mel Hulleman of Hawarden, Janice and Charles Johnson of Minneapolis, Mona and Frank Chan of Dearborn, Michigan, and, Linda and Darrel Ellefson of Dawson, Minnesota; two brothers, Kurt and Ray and his wife, Irma, all of Waterloo; two sisters, Audrey Brice and Naomi Schwiesow, both of Hawarden; 34 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and 31 great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters. Opal, Frances and Wanda; and three brothers, Leland, Nolan and Wayne.
