Betty Ann Rowland Moore of Camden was born February 20, 1921, in Camden, AR. The daughter of Joe and Ida Rowland. After living a life for Jesus, Betty went home to be with him on her 93rd birthday, February 20, 2014 at Ouachita Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Camden following a brief illness resulting from a stroke. Welcoming her to heaven were her parents; husband, Dale Moore; brothers, Jerrell Rowland and Raymond Rowland; sister, Onita Moore; and daughter-in-law, Marie Moore.
She was a member of Frenchport Community Church for 65 years, where she was active in all departments of the church. But most of all in the mission work in Haiti. She was a true servant of God and lived her testimony every day. She remained active in both church and community until her health declined and couldn't. If she saw someone in need of food, she would make sure she involved the church and community in taking food to them. She is well known for her cooking abilities. If she were ever bored, she would make a cake or pie and take it to the neighbors. She was grand prize winner, several times in the Cooking in the Valley contest. She was an avid gardener and loved showing off her flower gardens. She served on the Election Committee. In 1950, she was one of the founders of the Frenchport Community's, Sewing Circle Club. She was a member of the Old Smackover Road Extension Homemakers Club, and a member of the Frenchport Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Oil and Brine Museum in Smackover, AR. She remained active in going with different church groups to the nursing homes to help sing.
Survivors include her children, Porter Joe Moore (Frances) of Jefferson City, MO; Dale Moore, Jr. (Judy) of Cedar Bluff, VA; Donald Moore (Merry Etta); Sandra Parker (Rusty) and Becky Odgen (Jackie) all of Camden. She is survived by 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and brother, Robert Rowland.
The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to her two long-time loving and devote friends, Ann Scott and Jonell McKelvin for their thoughtfulness and attentiveness throughout the many years of their friendship, and also to her caregiver Cece Grimes for her help and support. Our sincere thanks to the staff of Ouachita Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and to Dr. Dan Martin.
