Passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014, after a long battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Mickey Damon; daughters: Mary Damon of Phoenix, Arizona; Laura Damon of Santa Rosa, California; and Rebecca Davidson (Ken) of Elk Grove, California; Dave also leaves behind five grandchildren: Caitlin Velasquez, Andrew Davidson, Ryan Zimmer, Aislinn Zimmer and Hannah Davidson.

Dave was born in Richmond, California in 1938, moving to Roseburg, Oregon, at the age of 12 where he attended school, and began a long career in the lumber industry. After marrying Mickey Kilkenny, he moved his family to California ultimately ending up in Cloverdale where he raised his three daughters. Dave was always active coaching softball and CYO basketball, initially for his daughters and grandchildren, most recently for Special Olympics. Dave loved fishing and sailing and raced sailboats with friends who shared this passion. Dave was a world traveler for both business and pleasure, going to such places as Chile, China, and the Ukraine.

Visitation will take place Friday February 21, 2014, from 4 - 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 22, 2014, 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Cloverdale, CA. Interment will be at Olive Hill Cemetery, Geyserville, California. Donations may be made to Special Olympics, an organization Dave believed in and was proud to participate in. Arrangements by Fred Young Funeral Home, 428 N. Cloverdale Blvd. Cloverdale, 707-894-2540.
