Dean Harold DeBerry, 71, of Medford, died Jan. 22, 2000, at Providence Medford Medical Center. Private interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.
He was born July 6, 1928, in Corinth, W.Va. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1944.
On Sept. 9, 1979, in Reno, Nev., he married Linda M. Ritterspach, who survives.
Mr. DeBerry was a deputy at the Jackson County Sheriff's Department for more than 16 years. He later worked for Boise Cascade, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of the White Earth band of the Minnesota Chippewa tribe of American Indians.
He was a longtime member of the American Legion and the National Guard.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Lee, Trail, and Bruce, Seattle; two daughters, Judy Olson, Spokane, Wash., and Kathie "Kitty" DeBerry, Seattle; two stepsons, John Hallett, Ontario, Calif., and David Hallett, Darrington, Wash.; two stepdaughters, Tasha Zaback, Portland, and Carla Hallett, Lynnwood, Wash.; and a sister, Daisy Cain, Spring Hill, Fla.
