LLOYD MOSER, FORMER EMPLOYMENT SERVICE MANAGER, DIES AT 71

Lloyd J. Moser, 71, former manager of the Employment Security Office, died early today in Henry County memorial Hospital. He had been ill for two years.
Active in community work, Mr. Moser was presented an award in 1980 for his contributions to programs for disadvantaged clients of Interlocal Community Action Program Inc., having served for 10 years, including 1 1/2 years as board chairman.
He also was cited for 20 years as finance officer for local Boy Scouts, and as former president of Indiana Chapter of International Association of Personnel in Employment Security president of Foreman's Club and New Castle Toastmaster's Club.
He also was a member of First Christian Church, where he served as deacon; New Castle Rotary Club; Leesburg Lodge No. 181 F. and A.M.; South bend Valley of Scottish Rite; Warsa American Legion Post No. 49; and Leesburg Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. He was past Chef de Gare of Forty and Eight Volture No. 133, and had been Grand de Train in 1961 and Grand Directeur Voiture Activities in 1962.
He had been a member of the board for Henrico Day Care Center and New Castle Area Vocational School. He was a Kentucky Colonel and life member of DECA.
For several years during the 1960's, he had headed the government employees division of the United Way Campaign.
Born in Monroe County, he was graduated from Bloomington High School and attended Indiana University, where he was a member fo Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on March 23, 1942 and served in the Signal Corps until October 26, 1945.
He and his wife, the former Nancy Elizabeth Fermier "Betty Mo" daughter of Dr. and Mrs. P.G. Fermier of Leesburg, came to New Castle in 1961 when Mr. Moser became manager of the New Castle Employment Security office. He retired in September 1976, after 34 years with the employment services.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Charles of Aurora, Co., an aunt, uncle, nephews and cousins.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Couden-Hostetier Funeral Home with Dr. Robert S. Stauffer officiating. Burial will be in Leesburg Cemetery at 3 p.m. that day. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorials may be sent to the First Christian Church or charity of the donor's choice.
