Alice D. Barron age 88, passed away in Eugene on February 16, 2014. She was born to Karl and Margaret Odom Franklin in Dallas, Oregon on June 5, 1925. She graduated in 1942 from Willamina High School and went on to attend Willamette University in Salem.

She met Gordon Walter Barron and they married on September 14, 1947 in Corvallis, Oregon. They were married for 66 years. Together they raised six children. Alice was never one to sit still, during the summers she worked as a Bean Boss in the bean fields. She worked at Sacred Heart Medical Center in the Supply Room and for the Plasma Center in downtown Eugene. During the elections she would work at the Polling Center monitoring the signature book.

She was a devoted homemaker and worked very hard canning and freezing fruits and vegetables during the fall. A talented seamstress she would make pajamas and dresses for her family. She knitted hundreds of sweaters and created and painted many ceramic items. She still had time for square dancing and Alice and Gordon were active in their group for 38 years.

Alice leaves behind three sons; Steven (Doris) Barron of Eugene, OR, Gary (Patti) Barron, and Roger Barron both of San Diego, CA; three daughters; Mary Barron of Bend, OR, Teresa Duncan of Ontario, OR and Kathryn (Thomas) Hubbard of Phoenix, AZ as well as 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Paul (Ina May) Franklin of Corvallis, Oregon.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Gordon on December 17, 2013. There will be a private family funeral and she will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR. Remembrances may be made in her name to The Nature Conservancy.
