George C. Colebank, resident of the Ione Region since April 1902, died at the Ione Hospital about midnight Saturday.
Mr. Colebank ws a respected citizen of that community and served it in many capacities such as Postmaster at Sullivan on the East Bank of the River and a little south of the present town of Ione, during the days of the Steamboat service on the Pend Oreills. He was a competent clerical worker and served for several years as Purser on the Steamboat Spokane during which time he had an intimate acquaintance with the Pioneer Folk of the Valley. For a number of years he served as Field Deputy Assessor.
Mr. Colebank reached the age of 87 years and had no known surviving relatives. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery Under the Auspices of Peaceful Valley Grange of which he was a devoted member.
