Julius was the tenth of thirteen known children born to Hosea Crossett and Persis Hills of Duxbury, Vermont. He was married in Acworth, New Hampshire on 9 December 1865 to Parthena Ann Gleason, the daughter of Joseph Gleason and Persis Gay of Acworth. He appears with family in Acworth on every census from 1870 to 1920. He and Parthena had four known children, born 1867 to 1873.
