Fred Brooks, age 86, of Imlay City, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at Forest Edge Family AFC Home in Hadley. Frederick Junior Brooks was the son of William and Elva Brooks, born on November 3, 1927 in Almont, Michigan. He grew up in Almont. Fred went to Country School near Almont. He married Arlene Brady on June 23, 1951 in Metamora. She precedes him in death. Fred was a dairy farmer and crop farmer on the family farm in Almont. He is survived by his daughter Venessa ( Mike Low ) Brooks of Imlay City. Grandchildren: Charlotte ( Nate ) Janney, Tracey ( John ) Haskins and Edward Schalau. Great-grandchildren: Nichole Muise, Ashley Muise, R.J. See, Morgan Walker, Venessa Haskins, Brooke Haskins and Dylan Schalau. Sisters: :Luella Hampton of Imlay City, Vera Ruth DeFord of AZ, and Ola Belle Penoyr of Davison. Fred is preceded in death by his wife: Elva Brooks, sister: Mildred Crookedacre, brothers: Ray Brooks and Frank Brooks. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City. Jerry Schriber will officiate. Burial will follow at Almont Cemetery. Family will be available for visiting from 2 - 5 & 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
