Services for Gentry N. Lynn, 52, of Idalou will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Idalou with the Rev. Steve Holston of Idalou United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Idalou Cemetery under the direction of White Funeral Home of Idalou.

He died Monday, May 22, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center-Lakeside in Lubbock.

He was born Dec. 11, 1947, in Lubbock. He graduated from Ysleta High School in El Paso. He received his bachelor's degree from West Texas State University and his master's degree from Tarleton State University.

On May 28, 1971, he married Shirley O'Donald in Canyon. They moved to Idalou in 1983, from Clint.

He taught school at Estelline, Muleshoe and Clint prior to moving to Idalou. He taught vocational agriculture until 1993. He then taught biology, advanced placement biology, physical science and integrated physics/chemistry.

He was a member of the Ag Teachers Association of Texas and was recognized as an FFA Honorary State Farmer.

He was a member of the Idalou United Methodist Church where he also taught the Open Door Sunday School Class.

He served in the U.S. Navy between 1968 and 1972.

Survivors include his wife; his father, Fred Lynn of Lubbock; three sons, Toby of Lubbock, Tatum of Conroe and Tyler of Idalou; a brother, Andre of Olton; and a grandson.
