Born August 18, 1901 in Shunk, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Murry and Matilda Battin Brown. She attended Shunk schools and Mansfield University. She was a teacher in the Shunk School District. She was of the Methodist faith. She is survived by: a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Sandra McCarty of Waverly; a daughter and son-in-lay, Ruth and Donald Ferguson of Auburn, NY; a daughter Gloria Every of Weedsport, NY; a daughter-in-law Betty McCarty of Montgomery, Pa; a sister, Lucile Kniffin of Arizona and Azelia Antonetti of Sayre; two nieces; one nephew; 16 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Irvin, on November 7, 1985; a son, Donald McCarty, in 1997; and a brother Carlisle Brown."
