William was the youngest of fourteen known children of Rev.Reece Wolfe/Woolf 1762 DE - 1846 OH, and Sarah Prettyman 1766 DE - 1860 OH, and the only one to settle in Iowa. He married Margaret Gaston Elliott 22 Jan 1835.
With Margaret, he was the father of eight known children..

Mary Margaret 1850 OH - 1930 OR (m.William Morgan)
William Leroy 1853 OH - aft 1900 CA (m.Harriett Seamen)
Note: FG contributor Angeline suggested the obvious looking last name change to Wolf as that would match the headstone. This generation and an earlier one seemed to not care much whether the spelling should be Woolf, Wolf or Wolfe (see his parents). Over time the Woolf spelling disappeared and most of the extended family settled on Wolfe. In this case William's wife has Wolfe on her headstone, as does an unmarried daughter and each of his four sons used Wolfe during their life times. - JP
