Viola M. Reed, 93, RD1 Brookville, died Friday at Laurelbrook Landing in Brookville. She was born on Feb. 14. 1910, in Walnut Grove. She was a daughter of the late Simon L. and Mary E. Gillin Griffith. She was married on Nov. 26. 1928, to George W. Reed. He preceded her in death in 1999. The wedding was at Little Valley, New York and performed by Rev. Blaze. The witness was Myrtle Shoemaker.

She retired from the Brookville Hospital where she worked as a kitchen employee for 10 years. She was a member of the Emerickville United Methodist Church in Brookville.

Survivors include 4 sons, 5 daughters, 30 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two half-brothers (Lester and Walter Griffith), one half sister (Eva Stevens) and one sister (Lillian Ritchey).

A funeral service was held Tuesday at the Emerickville United Methodist Church east of Brookville with the Rev. Thomas McClellan officiating. Burial was in the Emerickville Methodist Cemetery in Brookville. Funeral Arrangements were under the direction of the Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home in Reynoldsville.

She was an extremely kind hearted person that loved spending time with her family, reading the Bible, collecting dolls, cooking amazing meals with all the homegrown fruits and vegetables, listening to Christian music, and doing search a word puzzle books.
