Abraham was a British soldier in successful invasion of the island of Martinique during the Seven Years' War. Served also in the French & Indian War and for the American's in the Revolutionary War. The Covalt settlement was begun in 1789. Capt. Covalt and John Hinkle were killed by Indians in Mar. of 1791. His son Abraham Covalt Jr. had been killed by Indians in Jan. of 1791. Abel Cook had been killed by Indians on Feb. 27,1791. Mrs. Covalt who died in 1843, was allegedly buried next to the Capt. "The original cemetery for Covalt Stn. also called Bethany Town now known as Terrace Park,OH. No visible remains of cemetery exist. Was within 60 ft of mill on stream now called Red Bird Creek.
