Inscription
Aged 40 years
Oh, Davenport, a seraph once in clay,
A brighter seraph, now in heavenly day.
How glowed thy heart with sacred love and zeal!
How like to that thy kindred angels feel!
Clothed in humility thy virtue's throne,
In every eye illustrious buy thine own.
How like thy Master on whose friendly breast,
Thou oft hast leaned and shall forever rest.
