Santa was born in Italy on August 20, 1922. She was raised in Italy and along with her family, came to the United States in 1968. East Boston became their home, but she never forgot her Italian roots.
Santa's life was centered around her family. She was a warm, hospitable woman who was devoted to her family, and kind to everyone she met. The matriarch of the family, she loved gathering her children, siblings, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren together for a big meal and always made sure nobody left hungry. True to her Italian heritage, she loved cooking, especially pasta, and enjoyed getting together with anyone for a cup of coffee. Above all else, she was most happy when surrounded by her grandchildren, and they in turn cherished her presence and loving care.
Mrs. Avola was the beloved wife of the late Angelo Avola with whom she shared 44 years of marriage.
Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
