Early Life: DeOn was born on October 7, 1925, in Centerfield, Utah, to David Ray and Catherine Virl Clark Goates. She graduated from Gunnison High School. During World War II, she worked at the Standard Parachute Company and the Reliance Manufacturing Company in Manti, Utah, making parachutes to aid in the war effort.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: On June 14, 1946, DeOn married LaMar Clarence Paxman on June 14, 1946, in the Manti Utah LDS Temple. After moving to Provo, Utah, with her husband, she worked at Barbizon sewing factory to help provide for her family. DeOn was a caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions throughout her life. She enjoyed working in the Provo Utah LDS Temple with her husband for many years. Mae DeOn Goates Paxman returned to her Heavenly Father on February 9, 2014.
Survived By: Her five children: Dennis and Zoetta Paxman of Spanish Fork, UT; LaRita and Dennis Johnson of Spanish Fork, UT; Linda and Boyd Ware of Draper, UT; Gary and Rozanne Paxman of Highland, UT; and Merrill and Stephanie Paxman of Redlands, CA; 19 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and two sisters, Margaret LaRae (Goates) Jarrett of Nephi, UT; and Glenda (Goates) Pulsipher, St. Johns, AZ.
Preceded In Death By: Her husband; and two brothers, Earl Clark Goates and Max Lynn Goates.
