Verna Elizabeth (Strande) Albright was born February 3, 1926, at Volga, South Dakota, to Martin and Clara (Larson) Strande. She graduated from Volga High School in 1943. On October 7, 1944, she married George Albright in Brookings, South Dakota. Verna worked in the Brookings County Treasurers office, the Volga Co-op office, the Volga Post Office, and Lyles Grocery just before she retired.
Verna was a life-long member of First Lutheran Church in Volga, where she attended faithfully and belonged to Circle. She and George belonged to the Circle and Swing Square Dance Club for many years. She also enjoyed sewing, baking, walking, traveling, attending basketball games at Sioux Valley, and spending time with her kids and grandkids, for whom she baked her special angel food cake for their birthdays.
