Everett G. Maley, 77, a well-known vineyardist, died early Friday at his West Turner Road home. Born in Lodi of pioneer parents, Joseph and Lillian Harshner Maley, whose families date back to 1860 in the Lodi area, Maley attended local schools and graduated from Lodi Union High School in 1921.
He attended engineering school at Heald College in San Francisco and graduated with a degree in business. He married Mabel Buck in 1924 and moved with her to Los Angeles where he worked for the Sinclair Oil Co. He returned to Lodi to work for Shell Oil in 1926 in the sales and business office. After World War II, he took over management wit his two sons of the family wine vineyards west of Lodi. His wife died in 1970.
He was a life member of the Lodi Lodge No. 256 F & AM, Scottish Bodies of Stockton, Ben Ali Temple Shrine of Sacramento, Shriner's Hospital for Cripple Children of Ben Ali Temple of Sacramento, Tokay Shrine Club of Lodi, California Farm Bureau.
He is survived by two sons, one daughter; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Perrin of Lodi and Mrs. Edith Bishofberger of Lodi, and five grandchildren.
