Myrtle Marie Burd age 84 of Smithton passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the Country Club Care Center in Warrensburg. She was born on July 10, 1929 in Bland, Missouri daughter of William and Etta Groff Heyer. She was married on March 2, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Orval Burd , Jr. and he preceded her in death on June 8, 2004. Myrtle was raised and attended school in Owensville, Missouri. She was a homemaker most all of her life and worked as a cook for thirteen years at Brooking Park. She enjoyed raising a large garden, riding a Harley Motorcycle, boating and cooking. She was a loving grandmother. She is survived by two daughters; Maxine (Mackey) Hoenshell and Elizabeth Smith both of Smithton, one son; Earl Hoenshell of Warrensburg, one stepdaughter: Catherine Rutherford of Sedalia, five sisters; Florence Meyer and Iva Hurd both of Concordia, Missouri, Anna Buecker of Higginsville, Missouri, Betty Nagy of Bethlehem, PA, Linda Viebrock of Nocna, TX, one brother; Alvin Heyer of Kansas, six grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, husband, two sisters; Edith Harms and Ruth Gilkey, eight brothers; Dewey Heyer, Clarence Heyer, Delmar Heyer, John Heyer, Ray Heyer, Ronnie Lee Heyer, Lonnie Dale Heyer and Bill Gene Heyer. Funeral services will be at 2:30 P.M. Friday, February 14, 2014 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Downing, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time on Friday. Serving as pallbearers will be Zachary Price, Cody Meyer, Josh Bryant, Shane Bryant, David Buecker and John Nagy.
