Mr. William "Bill" Allen Gant 91, of Clarksburg, Tennessee passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hampton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Wednesday after 1:00 PM and on Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
Pallbearers who will serve are Danny Foster, Danny Gant, Joseph Zerbe, Bill Brandon, Joe Pate and Terry Haskins.
Honorary Pallbearer are Dylan Gant and Jeff Gant..
Mr. Gant was born December 13, 1922 in Hardin County, Tennessee to the late Alvia and Maggie (Creasy) Gant.
He was retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation, a member of the Concord Missionary Baptist Church and was a United States Air Corp WWII Veteran.
He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Allen Gant, three sisters, Bernice Barger, Ruth Spurgeon and Ann McClure and one brother, Robert Gant.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Vonita Gant; one daughter, Charlotte Gant of Salt Lake City, Utah; three sons, Billy Ray Gant of Pocahontas, Illinois, Daniel Gant (wife Jackie) and Tim Gant (wife Marion) both of Clarksburg, and one brother, Tom Gant of Athens, Alabama. He also leaves fifteen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and twelve great great grandchildren.
