Roy K Varner, 85, 305 Railway, Sanford, died Wednesday at Midland Hospital. He was born in Wabash, Ind. on March 14, 1895. He came to Averill from Indianna in a covered wagon 71 years ago. Mr Varner attended schools in Averill. He married the former Ethel Madison on Sept 1, 1922. He formally worked for the Dow Chemical Co and farmed until 1972. Mr Varner lived in Breckenridge from 1972 to 1977 when he returned to Sanford. He was a member of the Farm Bureau Association. Surviving are his wife: son, Donald R Varner of Midland, daughter, Mrs Arthur (Elaine) Castle of Midland; brothers Henry I Varner of Detroit and Clarence E Varner of Sanford; sisters Mrs Effie Valentine of Sanford and Mrs Arthur (Mabel) Adams of Detroit, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Services were from the Ware Smith Funeral Home with burial in Midland Memorial Gardens, Midland.
