Elizabeth A. Johnston, age 99, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2010, at Edgewood Vista in Brainerd. Elizabeth was born July 25, 1911, in Brainerd to Lewis and Minnie (Eide) Paulson. She married Wallace Irwin Johnston on Dec. 8, 1928, in Brainerd. Elizabeth was a lifelong resident of Brainerd, where she touched many hearts. She will be remembered as a loving mother.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wallace; son, Marlin Johnston; granddaughter, Lori Johnston; two great-grandchildren; five brothers Lawrence, John, Ed, Leo and Phillip; and one sister, Mardell Hertel.
Survived by seven children, Jewel (Al) Schilling of Brainerd, Loren (Jeanette) Johnston of Carolina Beach, N.C., Wallace Jr. (Hope) Johnston of Brainerd, Madonna (Jim) Boser of DeSmet, S.D., Robert (Lynn) Johnston of Brainerd, Darlene (Walt) Hillman of Hemet, Calif., and Diane Eliseuson of Brainerd; one sister-in-law Thelma Paulson of Brainerd, 25 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Heritage Assembly of God Church in Baxter on Wednesday Aug. 4, 2010, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow the services at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery of Brainerd. Friends may call at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, from 5 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church.
