Obituary:

Joseph E. Puckett, 82, of Anderson, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002 at Alexandria Care Center in Anderson.

Born Jan. 23, 1919, in Jasonville, he was the son of Richard and Nellie Puckett.

He was a car salesman in Pendleton and Anderson. He was member and past commander of VFW Post 266 and state chaplain of VFW; Faternal Order of Eagles 174; and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Puckett of Anderson; three daughters, Sandra Davis of Anderson, Karen Robertson of Clinton, and Gloria Gleener of Silver City, N.M.; eight grandchildren, Dawn M. MaHoney of Anderson, Jeffrey Philbert of Fairbanks, Alaska, Julie Philbert of McGregor, Texas, Rodney Philbert of Terre Haute, Mark Philbert of Pendleton, Justin J. Puckett of Anderson, Holly L. Puckett of Greenwood, and Donetta Domeika of Clinton; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Luther Puckett of Pendleton; one sister, Lela Sinders; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Richard H. Puckett; several brothers and sisters; and his parents.

Funeral services will be at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home in Anderson at 1 p.m. on Saturday with the Rev. Marvin Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park in Anderson. Military graveside rites will be conducted.
