Grace M. Wood was the daughter of Norman H. and Harriet Wilcox Wood. She came to Spencer from
LeMars, and on June IB, 1891, was united In marriage with A.J. Goodell, who had lived In Spencer since
1870. They made their home In Spencer until 1918, when they moved to Whittier, California, where they have since lived. In October, 1926, Mr. and Mrs. Goodell visited with friends and relatives in Spencer. While they were on their way back to their home Mr. Goodell became ill, and died soon after they reached Whittier.
Mrs. Goodell was a member of the Congregational church of Spencer, and an active worker in the various branches of the church. She was also a member of Evening Shade Chapter, No. 116, O. E. S., and a Past Worthy Matron of the organization. She was a loving wife and a kind and helpful neighbor.
Mrs. Goodell la survived by two sisters, Mrs. B. Macey of Donna, Texas, and Mrs. J.E. Batson of Whittier; one brother, Mason Wood of Chicago; and a number of nieces and nephews, one of whom, Wood J. Batson, resides In Spencer.
