Mrs. Mazil Couturier, 66, a Lake Leelanau resident for the past 46 years, died Monday at Grand Traverse Medical Care Facility following a four month illness.
The former Mazil McNeeley was born May 8, 1905 in Lexington, Indiana, the daughter of John and Mary McNeeley. She married Roy Couturier on November 3, 1925 in Scottsburg, Indiana. Mr. Couturier died on July 14, 1949.
Mrs. Couturier was a member of St. Mary's Church of Lake Leelanau and VFW Auxiliary post 7731.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Louis (Rosalind) O'Brien of Traverse City; Mrs. Harold (Helen) O'Brien of Empire and Mrs. (Betty) Mucha of Traverse City; three sons, LeeRoy of Westland, Richard of Troy and Frederick of Traverse City; 29 grandchildren, and a brother, William of Indianapolis, Indiana. Besides her husband three sisters and six brothers preceded her in death.
A rosary will be recited Wednesday at 8p,m. at Ray Martinson funeral home in Suttons Bay where the body reposes. A funeral mass will be read Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church with the celebrant the Rev. Father Joseph Wiekerak and assistant celebrant the Rev. Father Edward Neubecker. Burial will be made in the family lot in St. Mary's cemetery.
