Dr. Walter Sheridan Myers, of Mechanicsville, Va., formerly of North Wilkesboro, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at his home.
His parents, Walter S. and Dixie Myers, preceded him in death.
Dr. Myers was pastor of three churches for 49 years until his retirement three years ago. He received his doctorate in theology from Brown Theological Seminary in Fredericksburg, Va.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 at St. Paul's Baptist Church in Richmond, Va. Entombment was at Signal Hill Memorial Park in Hanover, Va.
Dr. Myers is survived by his wife of 56 years, Druscilla; two daughters, Jewel Gallagher of Knoxville, Tenn., and Joy Sickinger and husband, Alan, of Richmond, Va.; one son, Darrell Myers of Mechanicsville, Va.; one sister, Bertha Gene Elledge of North Wilkesboro; and one brother, David Myers and wife, Brenda, of Aylett, Va.
