Frederick 'Thom'
Was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on February 18, 1942 to Fred and Helen Brommerich. The family moved to North Highlands, CA when he was 15. He graduated from Highlands High School in 1960 and spent two years in the United States Army. While in the Army he discovered photography which became his lifelong passion. After the service Thom worked for the SP railroad, and pursuing his photography, worked for the McCurry Camera Company, eventually becoming a manager of one of their stores. After getting a degree in Fine Art from Sacramento City College Thom worked as a freelance photographer for many years. During this time he also taught at the Glen Fishback School of Photography, of which he was a graduate. In his later years he focused on Fine Art photography, incorporating his love of nature. His portraits of flowers have shown in several Sacramento area galleries. Thom loved the outdoors - he hiked the Sierra, loved to hunt and fish - always with his camera at the ready. Thom is survived by his wife Carol, daughters Kerry Ellis and Kelly Welchoff and three grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister, Karan Stanifer and brothers Keith and Gary Brommerich, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA, Viewing Monday, Feb. 10 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, Funeral service, Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 2:00. In lieu of flowers please give to the charity of your choice . .
