Ensign John Lynk Birong , killed in an air crash of a land based bomber, 12/9/1944, while on a routine mission from Lake City naval air station. The crash took place near Lake Butler, Fla., and took the lives of four including Ensign John M. Archambeault of Joliet. Ens. Birong is the son of Eugene and Edith the brother of Mary Jane, Thomas and Betty. He was a graduate of Niles Township H.S. and after graduation worked at Douglas Aircraft corp. in Burbank, CA. before enlisting as a navy air cadet.
Funeral Wednesday from chapel 8057 Niles Center rd., Skokie to St. Peter's church. Interment All Saints.
