Charles Ashby, age 75, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2014. Charles was born on December 10, 1938 in Henderson, Texas to Elmer and Gladys Robertson Ashby.

He graduated from Carlisle High School in 1956 and received an associate degree from Kilgore Jr. College. He was manager of J.C. Penny in Yoakum, owned Charles Ashby Clothiers in Henderson, managed J.B. White in Bryan, supervisor at Texas A & M Physical Plant and worked part-time at Tandy Brands. He was past President of Bryan Breakfast Lions Club, past President of District 2-53 Lions Eye Bank during 1985-1986 and received the District Governor's service award. Charles received Lion of the year award from Bryan Breakfast Club and was past President of Henderson Chamber of Commerce.

Charles married his loving wife of 40 years, Earline Vrana on November 2, 1973

He was a loving "Granddaddy" to his five grandchildren and their friends. He loved sharing his country livestyle with them.

Preceded in death by parents; brother, James Ashby and a niece, Sharon Ashby Davis.

Visitation from 3-6 p.m.with a prayer service at 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home. Funeral service at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home. Burial at Shiner Catholic Cemetery.
